  XXVIIth GYIMES DANCE CAMP
  July 28th — August 3rd, 2024 Gyimesközéplok

Dances from Gyimes and Felcsík for beginners and advanced students (during breaks folk songs will be taught).
Folk song teaching at advanced level. These sessions will be assisted by performer folk singers.
Musical instrument tuition for beginners and advanced students and also for children (violin, gardon, pipe and koboz – bring your own violin or koboz!)
Dance music will be performed by the following: Görbe Gyopár, Tankó Alpár, Virág Zsófia, Tankó Alpár and Ferencz Dávid and Váta Gábor, the Kedves and Finom folk ensembles and the music tutors.

ALSO RUNNING DURING THE CAMP:

  • Nightly dance-houses (táncház) – which will always include local peasant dancers; in addition to dances from Gyimes, Felcsík and Moldavia, there will be other dances from Transylvania (beginning with dances for children)
  • Handicraft workshops: felting, threading beads, spinning rope, weaving on circular handlooms, furniture-painting, crocheting lace, embroidering sheep-skin waistcoats, spinning whips and woodcarving (according to weaving requests).
  • Lectures on ethnography, on Hungarian culture, history and way of thinking
  • Day-trip: on Saturday into the local mountains or to the historic Rákóczi fortress (on the thousand year old Transylvanian frontier) (the day-trip is granted as a bonus from the organizers; the price will remain the same even if you skip the trip)
  • Camp-fire meet and sing-song

We give you a sample of music from Gyimes and another from Felcsík.

PARTICIPATION FEES:

  • 750 RON (or equivalent in EUR, HUF)
  • 650 RON for Transylvanian participants

The fees cover full-board (breakfast, lunch and evening meal), teaching fees and participation at all camp programmes, furthermore – taking into account the number of places – free accommodation in school classrooms or places for tents (you should bring your own tents, sleeping bags etc.). These accommodation options are free, therefor not opting for one of these does not reduce the participation fee. You can also choose accommodation with families (+ 12 EUROs per night per person). It is possible to book places in the guesthouses (Panzió) in the Camp area, in Hidegség Stream (4 km from the camp), or in the Skanzen (Outdoor Museum) in Boros Stream (5.5 km from camp)

Discounts

1. Children under 10 receive a discount of 20%; those under 6: 40%.

Discount 2 can be taken only by those who are paying for the full duration of the camp.
